What a beautiful morning in Sacramento, California.
The air was crisp, the breeze slightly cool, the sun was shining just enough for it's presence to be known. And this family, right here at hand, was on point. Their outfits couldn't have better coordinated with one another and the environment around them. We started just around the corner from where we parked and worked our way through this historically vibrant area. Each time we turned a corner, my smile became bigger and brighter and the poses came in more abundance. Seeing as I'm rooted down in Southern California, shooting in Sacramento was such a photographers treat! This location just had so much to work with, between the historic wooden buildings, the old wine barrels, the huge coffee house, the old train tracks and a sweet little rustic courtyard. It couldn't have been more inspiring. I was blessed to shoot Jill and Morrison in Long Beach, California several years ago just after Morrison started walking. It was surreal seeing him so many years later, all grown up, as a young boy with his entire family. Although he didn't remember me from the original shoot, I didn't let this stop me from being personal, goofy and having as much fun as possible with Morrison and his family! It's important to keep the youth as engaged as possible as if they start getting distracted from the photo session, the photos become difficult. At one point, his mom Jill turned to me and said, "You're really good with children, you need to make that known when you're booking." This comment resonated with me as shooting children is a large part of the photography I do. I absolutely love working with and shooting children as I'm so captivated by their curiosity that it comes naturally. With this, it made for such an amazing shoot with him and his entire beautiful family. Jill, Fred, Morrison and Melody, thank you so much for sharing your Sunday morning with me in downtown Sacramento. The morning was just so amazing getting to capture and share your love, beauty and light! I look forward to watching you grow. Much love to you all!
